Create the ultimate bokeh with the XF56mmF1.2 R APD and built-in apodisation filter

The FUJINON XF56mmF1.2 R APD is the same in all respects to the XF56mmF1.2 R lens, except one - it features a special apodisation filter (hence ‘APD’ in the lens name). This helps produce the creamiest, smoothest blurred backgrounds.

Make no mistake, this is one serious lens with a beautiful build quality and a focal length that suits a range of portrait styles, from full length to close-ups of faces.

APODISATION FILTER GUIDE Etched on to the lens barrel of the XF56mmF1.2 R APD is a useful guide to show the effect of the apodisation filter at given aperture settings. The red numbers show the effective aperture as the apodisation filter slightly reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor. The apodisation filter has no effect on aperture settings smaller than F5.6.

INTERNAL FOCUSING MECHANISM The XF56mmF1.2 R APD features an internal focusing mechanism, which means the lens stays at a constant length no matter what point it is focused on. Internal focusing also ensures that the front of the lens does not rotate when the lens is focusing, which is useful for photographers attaching filters. It is particularly helpful when using polarisers or graduated filters.

EXCELLENT HANDLING Although one of the larger lenses in the XF prime lens line-up, the XF56mmF1.2 R APD is beautifully balanced on any Fujifilm X Series camera body. It measures just less than 70mm in length and weighs 405g, so it could hardly be described as big and bulky, but the all-metal construction feels solid and reassuring, plus the lens and body combined are not front heavy.

NEUTRAL DENSITY FILTER SUPPLIED The XF56mmF1.2 R APD is designed to be used at its widest aperture settings to make the most of the apodisation filter’s effect. In very bright light, this may mean the shutter speed cannot go fast enough to deliver an accurate exposure, so a three-stop neutral density filter is provided as standard with the lens.
